What is your position at Barnardos Early Learning?
I'm the current Centre Manager at our Early Learning Centre in Eastbourne, Wellington.
How long have you been working with Barnardos Early Learning?
Since January 2016.
Why did you want to work with Barnardos Early Learning?
I liked the location of the centre, that it had a small group size (25) and I knew Barnardos was an organisation focused on the well-being of tamariki and whānau.
What’s your favourite thing about working for Barnardos Early Learning?
Barnardos Early Learning puts tamariki and whānau first. They are committed to providing quality education and care and provide the support to their teaching teams so we can do our best to achieve that.
What’s your favourite feature about your centre?
I love that we are surrounded by the bush and the sea. I love that it is a small group of tamariki, 25 each day, which means we all know each other well. It has a family feel to it. Families within the centre all know each other too as they live in Eastbourne or the nearby Bays. It is a close knit community.
What is one fun fact about yourself?
I was born in India, in the foothills of the Himalayas, in the same town that my husband went to High school in 13 years later. What a coincidence!!
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
Scotland, that is where my ancestors came from and I would love to go there and do some hiking.
What is one thing on your bucket list?
When I retire to have my own chickens again. We had them when my own children were growing up and I would to have them again one day. Also go to Europe one day - France/Italy.
Bonus question: what is the most exciting/rewarding thing you have done in your life?
Walking to Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
