Awhi Tairāwhiti Shines Bright

What a special time for our wonderful Centre Manager in Awhi Tairāwhiti, Quannah Nickerson.

Quannah is this year's recipient of the Tū Rangatira Māori Leadership award which was presented to her by our CEO Matt Reid. Quannah’s whānau came along to share in the celebrations with Service Delivery Manager Hayley Vinten and the whole Awhi team.

It was a lovely day to be outside in the wonderful Gisborne sunshine. Our tamariki were also excited to see all of the visitors who had come along to their centre. We had a special afternoon tea and more celebrations with our wider whānau when they came to pick up their children.

Another special moment on the day was capturing last year's recipient of this award, Melodie Hamon, with Quannah. Melodie is now working in Tairāwhiti and visits the early learning service most mornings to join the start of the day with karakia and waiata.

We are all very proud of you and your team, Quannah, and love the mahi that is happening in your service with your tamariki; the smile on their faces say it all - ka pai!
